Grand slam!! {#7}

I missed a few days, but I'm back!

We went to Denny's tonight since it was "kids eat free" and they have the $4 unlimited pancakes! I'm usually hesitant to take Harper out to eat because: 1 - she's 1 yr old and 2 - she usually won't eat anything there. She really likes eggs when I make them at home so we got her a Jr. Grand Slam (2 eggs, 3 pancakes, sausage, and bacon). Sister ATE THE WHOLE THING! There was one remaining pancake but she ate most of my sausage. I could not believe it!

How big is my baby girl? Sitting in a booster seat next to daddy and using a real fork!

{#6} Missing my Baby Girl!

Harper is staying in Arlington for the weekend and I am missing her like CRAZY! I am surviving, thanks to technology, on pictures. It sure looks like she's having no fun at all and needs to come home NOW!

GO RANGERS! This game is going to give me a heart attack!

Tour of Texas Part 1 {POTD #5}

We have completed the first leg of our Tour Of Texas Weekend! Today we were in Arlington (Cleburne, actually) for Justin's Grandpa's memorial service. Justin said the service was great... Sally and I spent 90% in the lobby of the funeral home. She didn't feel like sleeping on the way up and wasn't such a happy camper! At the all the grand and great-grand kids released balloons.

And a very tired little girl after a day of no napping!!

Tomorrow we are off to Houston for UIL Marching Contest!

PS - Isn't that smocked dress the cutest!?! gArAgE sALe!!'

Falling Into Fall {#4}

This FALL weather has been too wonderful to resist! We've been spending as much time as possible outside. I like to hit one park in town for walking/strolling, and one park for playing.

Harper is currently obsessed with anything baby. She carries them around, shushes them, and pats them on the butt to go night night. Here she is pushing her "bebe!" in the stroller at the park. Too bad she wasn't so interested in riding with her!

My little girl is also a bit adventurous. She loves to play on the big kid slides and toys and has no interest in the safer options. She climbs all over this stuff and makes me very nervous!

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at this park with a very creepy man the other day. He may have put his infected ear (or so he told his grandmother) on my phone and talked forever. He also wanted my name and phone number... not so sure how he was planning to call me. Oh well, we were brave and returned anyway.

We also enjoy the swing at home. Here is Harper's "smile". You don't usually get an actual smile, just a wave.

One of the perks of being at home!

Post a Day #2 {Then & Now}

For some reason the photos from my iPhone load in order by month, but not year. So, photos from last year are right next to photos from this year! It makes it really easy (and a little sad) to see what a difference a year makes. On year ago, Harper was almost 3 months old. She wasn't really doing much of anything but we sure thought she was awesome. Now, she is almost 15 months and she NEVER. STOPS. MOVING.
Then - Relaxing
Now - Relaxing

Then - New Toy
Now - Old Toy

She sure makes every day interesting!

And a for a little added fun.

Here is my little mommy in action.

A post a day... #1

Testing this out. I have a "plan" of posting a photo a day just so I can remember things. I thought posting from my phone might make things a bit easier.

I'm pretty sure Harper has entered the "terrible twos" about 8 months early. She has learned to throw a subject appropriate tantrum when she doesn't get what she wants. Usually it's about going outside, picking up the dogs, or getting in the bathtub fully clothed. Today, she wanted to play with a fork that was on the counter.... a fork
that I did not want her to play with. I tried to give her a replacement, tantrum ensued, and you can see the result in the above picture. I just did what any other parent who wanted to see Matt Lauer's "big" announcement in the Today show would do.

birdies.

 I'll be honest. I really dislike birds. Feathers creep me out, and I'm scared that their sharp little beaks will peck my eyes out when I'm unaware.

 Something about little baby birdies is different. They don't really have feathers (just cute little fuzz) and their beaks don't  seem sharp yet.

 They can't yet fly out of their nest to attack you, so they are good subjects for photos.

 Yep, baby birdies are very cute until the MAMA BIRDIE COMES BACK AND ATTACKS YOUR FACE!

9 Month Stats

Weight: 21 lbs 10 oz - 90th %
Height: 28 inches - 50th %
Head: 18 inches

Harper wears size 4 diapers, size 4 shoes, and 18 month clothes. She stands independently and will take a step or two.

Baby Steps

Lots of baby steps around here lately...
Harper takes 2 or 3 and then falls down.
I'm not ready for her to not be a baby anymore, so that's ok with me.

One little injured piggy caused by our adventurous little girl.

I just love Harper's little personality. She is always after something and will crawl over, under, around, through... just about whatever it takes to get what she wants!

Hippity Hoppity!

We had a whirlwind of an Easter weekend. We left Thursday night to drive to Arlington since we had to call in sick last weekend. I had an instrument drive Thursday evening so we couldn't get on the road until after that. We decided to wait until "bedtime" so that Sally would sleep. She apparently missed the memo and took about an hour nap and then woke up ready to go. We had to stop several time because she was hysterically screaming and didn't make it there until about 1AM. Same song, second verse for the drive home. This kid is just not cut out for car rides and it makes for a very tired set of parents the next day. I left my camera at home and didn't get any pictures in Arlington but we did get to see Grandpa and Ma-Maw & James (Justin's grandparents).

Saturday we went to my parents house to hang out, fish, work in the garden, etc.. Justin caught I catfish (which of course I didn't get a picture of because I was sitting in the car with Harper so she wouldn't get sunburned). We got to meet Emily (Ron's daughter) and had a great time.

 I had to play in church on Sunday so Justin had to get Harper dressed for Easter all by himself! He did a great job, I am so proud! We ate a huge Easter lunch, the big kids hunted Easter eggs, and got to spend some time with my grandparents.

 The Easter Bunny visited Harper, but she didn't have a chance to see what he brought until later in the evening. She loves her new baby!

Us lately..

We've been busy and I've been very neglectful of this lovely blog.

Here are some recent photos of Sally Sue..

Harper and I are both recovering from a nasty bug that sidelined us for the weekend. We had plans to travel to Arlington and see everyone, but instead have been stuck inside.  Harper didn't sleep AT ALL last night and she seems to be feeling worse today than she did yesterday, so I don't have high hopes for tonight. I hate seeing my sweet girl feel so bad, and I sure don't enjoy feeling like this myself. Hopefully we will both be feeling like our (wonderful & happy) selves by this evening... wish us luck!
