Harper has really started to assert her "independence" lately. She is at the babysitter for about 6 hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays and she's decided that she doesn't want to take a bottle in that entire time. Needless to say, by the time she gets home she is not a very happy girl. I'm not sure what's up with that!?!
Sally is still fighting a cough that she has had for a few weeks now. Our doctor told us not to be surprised when she needs tubes in her ears since she has already had an ear infection and stays pretty snotty. Her favorite new trick is clapping. Any time you say "yaaay!" she will smile huge and clap her hands. Unless you are trying to catch it on video (side tangent - is it still "video" since you are actually recording on a memory card?).
I know the lighting on these pictures is not so hot, and I need to spend some time teaching my husband how to use the settings on our camera... but they are cute anyway. Also, you know it's real life when you can see the laundry stacked on the couch in the background. Hey, at least it's clean!

Harper's Happenings... 6 months-ish
Just wanted to note some things that are going on with Sally Sue lately.
- She is crawling up a storm. Started at about 5 1/2 months. She comes to find me (or Tosca) wherever I am.
- She pulls up on EVERYTHING!
- She is starting to pull up and then let go. She'll look around and be confused for a second and then fall over. She is also "cruising" along the couch.
- Her favorite toys are shoes, toes, Tosca's tail, and a horse that has had his ears chewed off.
- She can say "ma, na, da, ga, & ta" but none in context. She also babbles and screeches.
- She is in 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
- She is still a terrible sleeper, but that's ok because she's cute! We have to really force her to take a nap, and it's usually pretty short. She goes to sleep really easy at night, but still wakes up pretty often to eat (or play). I just try and remind myself that she'll only be a baby once and I'll be able to sleep later! Luckily I have a husband who is really helpful so that is really nice.
- She is eating 2 meals a day right now. We have tried sweet potatoes, avocado, squash, green beans, pears, prunes and bananas. Last night she had eggs for the first time. Her favorite thing is yogurt. We are about to start trying more table foods like chicken and such.

Puppy Love
This little girl loves her puppy. Whenever I'm not closely watching her and it gets a little "too" quiet, I usually find Harper either chewing on Tosca's tail or standing up and holding on to her with the proudest look on her face. Of course, this is usually closely followed by Tosca retreating to her bed for a little soloace - or running away and knocking Harper over. But, for a few minutes, they are two sisters who really love each other!
This is one of my favorites... please excuse the mess! |

The Days of Our Lives
I'm trying really hard to write in Harper's baby book on at least a monthly basis. I really want her to be able to have those memories when she's older. I guess I really want me to have the memories of her wanting to know about those memories... Either way, when I sit down to write in her book I can never come up with anything memorable to write. The entries usually look like this:
"Harper, you are 5 months old! You are so big! I can't believe how big you are! You are growing so fast and doing so much stuff! You are so big!" ... I'm definitely in need of new material. Enter blog! Right now it feels like the days of our lives are pretty slow and not filled with much excitement, but I THINK that someday I might want to remember that today Harper pulled all the diapers out of a box and spread them all over the floor. Or that I put some puffs in a cup that she likes to play with and she ate one and then preceded to feed all the rest to Tosca, after they were all gone she turned her cup upside down and cried because she didn't have any more...
