Medical Mishaps

Whew! This has been an unexpectedly crazy week (and we are only 2 days in!).  Harper has stayed true to form of keeping us on our toes - no rest for the weary! She has been battling a nasty cough for about about 10 days and has not been getting any better. Yesterday (Monday) morning she woke up and was her usual self, but I noticed around lunchtime that her eye was kind of red and goopy. It very quickly got much worse and then she started pulling on her ears. I was able to get one of our friends to stay with Harper while I went to work and by the time I got back it was very obvious that we needed to get to the Dr. ASAP. Her whole eye was totally covered in green goo (sorry) and she couldn't see through it at all. We headed to the clinic (thank goodness for after hours!) and got the wonderful news. Pink eye, both ears infected, and a cough that needed to be treated. He also informed us that since it was not our first rodeo with the ear infections we should be prepared for tubes. Soon. We were sent home with another antibiotic (ears), cough medicine, and eye drops.

Today she has been in much better spirits other than being frustrated with my vigilance in keeping her eyes clean and putting the drops in. This morning she was so annoyed that she ended up falling asleep like this so I would leave her alone.
During all of this craziness, I feel so lucky to have friends that have helped out with Harper so I could go to work for my very long 2 1/2 hours a day. I'm going to need more people to not have jobs so that when Harper has to stay home from "school" I have a larger pool to draw from on such short notice! It's really great that I only have to work in the afternoons 3 days a week.

Hopefully we are on the upswing now and we can steer clear of the clinic for at least a week! Ha! If anybody out there has some advice on the whole ear tubes situation it would be much appreciated. I have heard there is some sort of Chiropractic technique that can really help. I don't really understand that whole situation, but it sounds interesting.

Cute unrelated pic that my sister sent me. My favorite part is Hayden in the background!
We are back to daycare tomorrow and hopefully into some sort of routine. Looking forward to the pancake supper this Friday at the high school. All you can eat pancakes, YES! Also hoping that Justin and I can avoid the pink eye - yikes!!
